Like any strong building, we need a solid foundation we can rely on. For many people, this idea already feels overwhelming, and that is often why so many never even begin their health journey. I almost hesitate to use words like wellbeing or self care anymore, as they have become so overused that they sometimes lose their meaning.
What truly matters to me is learning how to take care of yourself in the world we live in today. A world of constant competition, rush, fast paced lifestyles, overly processed foods, and endless exposure to blue light. The list goes on.
Everyone is different. Some people have more time in their daily lives than others to focus on certain health goals. This means that everyone needs a different foundation, or needs to adjust it at different stages of life. Your foundation has to work for you, not for anyone else. This is key.
We are exposed daily to advertisements for hair supplements, matcha powders, hydrating creams, organic beef sticks, and countless other products. While these can all have benefits, that does not mean they will benefit you. Understanding your individual needs is essential. Your needs may depend on the climate you live in, your stress levels, anxiety, or blood pressure. For example, some people may benefit from replacing coffee with matcha, while others may not.
Finding balance between needs and wants is part of the process. I personally prefer coffee over matcha, but there are times when I need to listen to my body and acknowledge that too much caffeine can raise my blood pressure. Sometimes compromise is necessary.
Experimenting takes time and patience, and this is exactly what a health journey is about to me. It is not linear. It is about learning, adjusting, and finding your own path. The satisfaction of slowly meeting your needs and wants, while unfolding the best version of yourself, is irreplaceable.
I have never heard anyone say they regret starting their health journey, but I have heard many people say they regret not starting sooner.
